Amagasaki is a historic city which has evolved with its port and castle and as an industrial center in line with changes of the times. It is a lively city with the largest shopping area located between Osaka and Kobe and convenient public transportation systems and other urban facilities.

Amagasaki is also a city with a rich cultural and artistic life, represented by its cultural promotion centering on the Edo-period playwright Chikamatsu and opera and other performances given at the Archaic Hall; a city rich in natural beauty with verdurous parks, green sidewalks and the Ina and Muko Rivers that run on the city's eastern and western sides.

Amagasaki is also a dynamic city that continues to progress to become a more attractive and comfortable place to live, with administrators, residents and businesses working hand in hand.
