Sister City

Augsburg, Germany
(since April 7, 1959)
Augsburg is located along the scenic Romantic Road in southern Germany. The hometown of Mozart's father, it is a well-known industrial center. The Amagasaki-Augsburg sister city relationship, the first between Japanese and German cities, originated in the two cities' exchange relating to diesel engine manufacturing.

Friendship City

Anshan, China
(since February 2, 1983)
Anshan in Liaoning Province in the northeastern part of China has an active iron and steel industry. The city's tourist attractions include Mt. Qianshan, famous for numerous rocky peaks, Tanggangzi Hot Spring, frequented by historic figures, and one of the world's largest Buddha statues. The Friendship City relationship was established after Amagasaki's youth musical mission visited Anshan.
